Calcutta: The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations will come out with a new logo, designed by ICSE and ISC students, to mark its 60 years of existence.
The council will hold a competition for students (classes VI to XII) of 2,000-odd schools for the logo.
The council will use the best designed logo on its website and official documents during the diamond jubilee year. The council entered into the 60th year on November 3.
The council logo in use now was designed at inception.
The council on Thursday sent a notice to principals of all its schools asking them to organise the competition in their schools and send the entries to the council on or before December 29.
Competing students can draw, paint, or even use the computer to design the logo. But the logo has to convey what the council stands for, according to the notice.
A panel of three judges will choose the best. The "visual impact" of the logos, their originality and clarity of thought and communication of the student will be considered during selection.
There will be three prizes: the first gets Rs 1,50,000, the second Rs 100,000, and the third Rs 75,000.
The council has asked principals to ensure students don't design the logos at home. Students have to design the logos in school in the presence of teachers.
Every school principal has to certify a student's design as "original work", according to the notice.
Before students start designing the logos, they must research the subject. "Please encourage your students to do some research on logo design as well as about the council logo and what we stand for, before they embark on their design so that it conveys the spirit of the council."
