Calcutta: The Pope has one, so does Pierce 077 Brosnan and Kim Kardashian who bought the dreamboat for hubby Kayne West. A Lamborghini showroom is to due to open in the city in the next year and a half.

Automobili Lamborghini will open its first dealership in eastern India in the 2018-19 fiscal, the head of Lamborghini India, Sharad Agarwal, told Metro over phone while speaking about the India launch of Lamborghini Urus on Friday.

The destination of the dealership "is yet to be fixed", but it will definitely be an exclusive address "where we can take our customer for a test ride if he so wishes", Agarwal said.

"We are not into huge dealerships but more into exclusivity. We have only three models to display, so a Lambo showroom is typically 2,000 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft. It will be a 3S operation, catering to sales, service and spares. It will have to follow the international guidelines for a Lambo showroom, having an exclusive, experiential lounge with a 3D configurator where he can configure his own Lambo. He can touch, feel the leather on the upholstery, the alloys of the wheels, and also the colour palette," the Lamborghini India boss said.

The dealership, that will sell cars upwards of Rs 3 crore, must have a workshop equipped with the latest tools and equipment and technology. All staff at the dealership will be trained and certified by Automobili Lamborghini.

The city already has several Lambo owners. Parveen Agarwal owns an LP 552 Gallardo special edition. "It has been with me since 2014 when I bought it. My most memorable drive was last month when I drove from Delhi to Agra on the Yamuna Expressway."

With him was auto dealer Amit Modi, who drove his Huracan Spyder. "It was a drive arranged by Lamborghini. We drove in a convoy of around 15-16 Lambos," Modi said.

Known for its guttaral sound, the Lamborghini V12 engine makes the petrolhead go weak in the knees. As you step on the gas, the quad pipes belt out unearthly, heinous noises, a death mixture of tormented brass and banshee wails. The supercar from Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy, makes drivers forget about speed limits. Topping at 325 kmph, every Lambo owner is bound to hit the 300kmph speed limit or more.
