What: Inauguration by the governor

Governor M K Narayanan inaugurated the club's first theme pandal on October 8 along with Arup Roy, the minister for agriculture marketing, Rajib Banerjee, the minister for irrigation and Prasun Banerjee, the Howrah MP. The puja committee donated a cheque worth Rs 25,000 towards the Governors' Relief Fund

What: Chau dance

The queue outside this pandal everyday snaked through Natabar Pal Road, sometimes blocking the entrance to other pandals in the neighbourhood. Most people came to see the pandal and to watch live Chau performance in the evenings. Two teams from Purulia performed Mahisasurmardini and Ganesh Vandana through the evenings at the pandal

What: Musical evenings

Classical and folk music performances were arranged at this pandal in central Howrah to create a soothing ambience. Sitar player Dipak Ghosh performed live on Saptami along with Buddhadeb Parui on the tabla. A Baul team from Birbhum regaled visitors with their folk songs on Ashtami evening at the small natmandir made in the middle of the pandal. A violin performance by Gopal Chandra Nath was slated for Navami evening

Where: Charabagan Pradeep Sangha

What: Dusshera

Dusshera was observed at Charabagan Pradeep Sangha this year where a 32 feet tall effigy of Ravana was burnt at the ground near Dumurjala Stadium. The programme started with colourful fireworks display. The oldest member of the club released the rocket that set the Ravana idol on fire
