Siliguri, April 23: The body of Anukul Saha, a businessman of Hakimpara who was killed in Bihar’s Arrah by unidentified men on Saturday, was brought here today.

According to family sources the 51-year-old businessman had gone on a trip to Patna on Saturday. His driver Manik Das accompanied him.

The victim’s brother-in-law Dipak Saha said Saha’s body was found in an abandoned house in a remote village in Arrah.

According to Arrah police, Dipak added, Saha and his driver were shot at from close range. While Das managed to flee, after a bullet grazed his skull, the businessman died on the spot.

“The car they were travelling in could not be traced. My brother-in-law’s body bore bullet marks in the head. His watch, cellphone and all other belongings had also been robbed. The Bihar police could identify his body from an identity-card that was in his pocket,” he added.

Saha is survived by his wife Prabita and two daughters Anindita and Priyanka.

“My sister had fallen sick. After the body was cremated today she is not in a position to speak,” Deepak said apologetically. Priyanka is a higher secondary examinee.

According to police sources in Siliguri, the Bihar police had contacted them after they had recovered Saha’s address from the identity card in his pocket.

The Siliguri police said they would investigate the case jointly with their Bihar counterpart.

According to the family members of the victim, Saha worked under a local servicing centre for more then 25 years before switching over to his own business.

“He had no enmity with anyone. We think a gang of car lifters committed the murder. We appeal to the Siliguri police to investigate the case. I want justice for my two nieces and the younger sister whom I had brought up,” said Dipak.

“It seems as if I am having a nightmare since Sunday. I am unable to come to terms with the misfortune. I don’t know what to write on my answerscript,” said Priyanka who was being urged by relatives to complete her examinations.
