Alipurduar Feb. 6: Rovers and Mountaineering Club of Alipurduar will organise a bird watching and training camp for students at Rashik Beel Eco-Tourism Centre from tomorrow.

The three-day camp will end on Monday.

The 178-hectare eco-tourism centre, which lies between Raidak and Sankosh rivers, attracts a large number of migratory birds in winter. Sufficient tree cover and abundant food sources make the centre an ideal habitat for birds.

Secretary of the club Subroto Ganguly said: “Every year, around Christmas, we organise adventure sports camps for young boys and girls. Due to army deployment on the Indo-Bhutan border in December, we could not do so this year. We decided to organise a camp on bird-watching and training at Rashik Beel Eco-Tourism Centre instead. Children above 12 years of age will participate in the camp which can accommodate up to 20 people.”

The camp will impart basic training on bird watching and identification of species in a manner that is accessible to children.
