Calcutta: Students, teachers and schools doing commendable work in the Hindi language will be honoured at the Ram Awatar Gupt Pratibha Puraskar, partnered by The Telegraph, at GD Birla Sabhagar on Sunday.
Fifteen students have been selected for awards based on their scores in the Class X and Class XII board exams as well as the pre-board exams. The top three students of BA and MA (Hindi) will also be feted.
Students of CBSE, ICSE and Bengal boards, who have Hindi as one of their subjects, are entitled to apply for the award. Schools send their nominations, from which the winners are selected.
Eight students who have excelled in extra-curricular activities will receive the Ankur award. "Students' performance in extracurricular activities such as debate and elocution in Hindi are considered," said an organiser.
The Ajay and Aparajay awards will be handed over to students who have succeeded in adverse conditions.
Over a hundred students will be awarded certificates.
Six schools with the best Hindi results and extracurricular activities in Hindi will be awarded.
The Shikshak Samman will go to two senior school Hindi teachers from each board.
A pre-event interaction was held at Hindusthan Club on June 6, where principals and teachers of schools spoke on the importance of Hindi.
