Girish And The Chronicles (GATC) continues to rock and roll.

The metal act from Gangtok has been selected to perform at the Summerside Festival at Grenchen in Switzerland in June after bagging the top spot from among the 50 bands from across the world in the selection round held online.

The festival’s board members had shortlisted the 50 bands, including GATC, from which the top 10 acts were selected by a global audience through online voting.

“Thanks to the powerful love, support and votes received by GATC from all fans and friends across, we were able to secure the top spot from all the bands selected through online voting,” said Girish Pradhan, the frontman of GATC.

The four-member band of Girish, his brother Yogesh, Suraj Sun and Nagen Mangrati said they were indebted to their legions of fans for helping them achieve another landmark in their illustrious career.

“This marks another extraordinary achievement in our career, and we will continue to strive to keep waving the flags of Sikkim and India high on the international stage,” said the Sikkimese quartet.

The Summerside Festival, the band said, would feature industry giants such as Alter Bridge, Five Finger Death Punch, Hollywood Vampires comprising legendary artistes Alice Cooper, Joe Perry (of Aerosmith fame) and Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp. Other acts include Seether, Mammoth (Wolfgang Van Halen), Airbourne and Guano Apes.

GATC will also perform at the Bremgarten Festival and other venues as part of its Swiss tour, also in June. This will be followed by a Spanish tour where they will mark their second performance at the Zurbaran Rock in Burgos, Spain, after wowing the Spanish fans last year.

“We are also planning gigs at some more venues in Europe during that time,” signed off Girish.
