Bagmari: An inter-club football tournament at Bagmari on Sunday night turned into a clash as supporters and players ransacked houses and damaged two autos, a bike and cycles over a penalty kick.
The clash at Sri Krishna Colony near Ultadanga station left at least four injured.
Supporters and team members of Bagmari Pragati Sangha grew violent when the referee offered a penalty kick to Naba Jagrani Sangha the team from the colony, Rashik Mondal who lives in the area said.
"Our club was leading with two goals when a player from Bagmari Pragati Sangha pulled down one of our strikers. The referee offered a penalty kick and their supporters went on the rampage," he said.
Gulabi Das, 60, another resident, alleged Raju Chakraborty and his men who live in a neighbouring colony thrashed her when she asked them not to ransack her one-room house.
"The rampaging men broke TV sets in several houses. When they started banging the walls of my house with bamboo sticks, I protested... they attacked me," she said.
The men targeted two autos parked in the lane outside the colony, another resident said.

A man who lives in the colony said the attack has left them surprised. "We were always on good terms with them. We never imagined something like this could happen over a football match," he said.
The tournament had Rs 8,001 for the winners and Rs 7,001 for the runners-up.
Boni Bose, the sister of Raju Chakraborty who has been accused of leading the attack, said he had tried to stop the fight.
"He tried to reason with everyone, asking them to stop fighting," Bose said.
A team from Maniktala police station, along with reinforcements from Lalbzar, arrested 25 people from the area.
They have been booked under various IPC sections, including 143 (unlawful assembly), 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation), an officer said.
