After launching Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro earlier this year, Nothing has shifted focus to its pocket-friendly range, CMF. Nothing’s CMF Phone 2 Pro is a smartphone that helps you get things done without worrying about breaking the bank. You don’t get all the bells and whistles of a flagship device but, at the same time, it doesn’t disappoint with its treatment on the software front.

The CMF Buds 2025 lineup ranges across multiple price points, and each model balances performance, design and gives users more control over their listening experience
There is not much of a difference in the design department. In case you have experienced the first CMF Phone, you will know what is in store. Yet, it looks different from any smartphone on the market. Nothing CEO Carl Pei runs a tight ship, and that definitely comes through in the level of detailing.
The only design change over CMF Phone 1 is that users of the latter could remove the backplate to attach replacements. Here, covers (sold separately) are screwed on top of the phone’s existing rear.
Also, Nothing has thrown in a triple camera system with CMF Phone 2 Pro. What makes the design click is the absence of a camera island. Instead, the third camera looks a bit like a toggle button. The phone remains slim and light with all the expected buttons.

In the camera department, there are three cameras: A 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens offering 2x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The selfie camera is 16MP. You can record 4K videos at 30fps on the main camera but that comes down to 1080p@60fps on the front snapper.
Another change lies in how you interact with the phone, thanks to AI-focused Essential Space (introduced in Nothing Phone 3a devices). The feature takes the help of Essential Key, which is an additional side button next to the power button. It activates Essential Space, a dedicated area for storing content that is often accessed, like voice notes, screenshots and photos. Being AI-driven, ‘smart collections’ automatically organises files into categories based on type. It saves a lot of time if you have to go through a bunch of photos. The feature has a lot of potential that will unfold over time.
Display? The 6.77” FHD+ flexible AMOLED display offers symmetrical bezels, is bright and supports 120fps gameplay support.
The phone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro 5G processor, which is nimble enough to take care of everyday apps and most gaming needs, even though this can’t be called a full-fledged gaming device.
