Sringkhal to hit screens tomorrow

Guwahati, Oct. 15: The Assam State Film (Finance and Development) Corporation Ltd is ready with its latest production Sringkhal, a feature film based on a popular short story penned by litterateur Bhabendra Nath Saikia.

Directed by Prabin Hazarika, the film is co-produced by Silver Line Production and will hit the screens across the state on Friday.

Based against a rural backdrop, Srinkhal portrays how a widow, Ambika, struggles for survival and brings up her children after her husband passes away.

The cast of the film includes names like Adil Hussain, who has made his mark in the national film scenario.

One will also see senior actors like Badal Das, Jaya Seal Ghosh, Prativa Choudhury, Nirmali Sarma as part of the cast, along with Saurav Hazarika, Dhiraj Das, Bhanu Deka, Ashim Nath and child artistes Divyam Seal and Rodali Bora.

The chairperson of the corporation, Bobbeeta Sharma, told reporters here today that the corporation has been promoting Assamese cinema for the past few years with financial support to veterans as well as young filmmakers from the state.

Earlier, it produced Baandhon, directed by Jahnu Barua, and soon another film Xaat Nomboror Xondhanot directed by Abdul Majid will be released.

The corporation also co-produced films like Raag, Paani and TRP recently.

The corporation is hopeful the film will get good a response from the audience considering the changing situation of the Assamese films of late.

Several Assamese films have hit the screens this year and people have appreciated them.
