Guwahati, June 20: A brace by Birsing Bordoloi helped River Rine Club beat Arambag Football Club 2-1 to register their first win in the Guwahati Sports Association B Division Football League at the Nehru Stadium here today.
Desperately in search of a win, River Rine drew first blood through Birsing Bordoloi in the 19th minute through a fine strike on target. Bordoloi went on to score his second goal and provide a two- goal cushion for his side in the 33rd minute of play. Raman Boro reduced the deficit in the 47th minute.
Arambag FC players continued making inroads into the River Rine territory but failed to find the back of the net.
Earlier, River Rine Club faced two consecutive defeats in their first two matches while Arambag FC registered their second defeat.
In the other scheduled match of the B Division league, Sporting Union Club were awarded a walkover as Favourite Club players failed to turn up.
In the GSA C Division Football League at the same venue, Naba Suruj Sports Club continued its fine performance registering a 2-1 victory over United Football Club.
Tongkao Ho broke the deadlock in the 17th minute while Raikon Teron scored the second goal in the 28th minute. Kh Vini found the back of the net for United FC in the 60th minute. Naba Suruj SC stands pretty with three wins in their three matches so far.
In another match of the C division, Mahabahu SC and Ankurjyoti Club played to a goalless draw.
