The 18 buses which were used to bring back the 391 Assamese students to Kota will now take 222 people from Rajasthan back to their state.

The people being transported to their home state boarded the buses from the Bharalumukh here on Wednesday. With the help of the Purvottar Pradeshiya Marwari Sammellan, these stranded persons were sent back to Rajasthan.

Madhu Sudan Sikaria, the president of the Purvottar Pradeshiya Marwari Samellan, said they came up with the idea to send these people back when they came to know about these 18 buses coming from Kota.

Vivek Sanganeria, the spokesperson for the organisation, said they have made all arrangements with the help of the state governments of Assam and Rajasthan to send the persons back.

He added, “We received several enquiries and these were sent to the government for approval. The government, out of almost 500 applicants, approved 350 people to travel back home. Of the approved persons, 222 are heading back home.”

With this, Assam becomes the first state to send stranded people back to their home state directly.

Most of them have extreme emergencies and hence are being sent back. Before sending them back, the government crosschecked their causes of travel and allowed them to leave.

On April 27, 391 students, who were stranded in coaching hub Kota amid the lockdown, were brought back to the state in 18 buses.
