Ranchi, Oct. 28: Artefacts made of colourful seashells have found many takers at the ongoing Khadi fair in Morabadi grounds.
Deities, animals and birds made of intricately designed seashells by Calcutta artisan Asim Pal are expensive, but that has not coming in the way of sale. High workmanship of artisans and flair for innovation is what is drawing visitors towards it.
The seashell dinosaur costs Rs 18,000 while the crocodile is priced at Rs 7,000.
“These exquisite artefacts cannot be found anywhere else in the country. One of my close associates collects seashells from Indonesia, Malaysia, China and Basra (Iraq) and I purchase them,” said Pal.
A customer at the fair, Niti Sahay, said: “These are exclusive items which will make my living room look beautiful.”
