The half-an-hour laser and dancing-fountain shows will be held four times every evening till Thursday.

Tata Group chairman emeritus Ratan Tata and Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran have confirmed participation in the Founder’s Day celebrations.

The special lights which will continue till Thursday will include decorative illumination in the park, theme-based corners on saving trees and waste segregation at source, decorative huts, shrub illuminations and sharp beams, illuminated tree clusters and cartoon characters. There will also be animal-shaped inflated balloons and exhibitions on green city, steel city and clean city.

“Frisking will be carried out jointly by security forces of Tata Steel, Jusco and district police on all the visitors at all four gates to the park,” said Dhananjay Mishra, Jusco senior general manager (Jamshedpur).

“There will also be door-frame metal detectors at each gate. Cigarettes, alcoholic beverages, horn and boom box, coins, etc, will be prohibited for the visitors entering to watch the illumination at Jubilee Park. A total of 25 CCTV cameras have been installed. Six watch towers doubling up as control rooms will be manned by security personnel and Jusco officials.”

There will be separate queues for men and women at the entrance points and vehicles will only be allowed between 10pm and 11pm.

A technical exhibition will be inaugurated on Monday at the SNTI to showcase models prepared by trainees of SNTI, NTTF and employees of Tata Steel and its sister concerns.

Chandrasekaran and Ratan Tata will also be attending the Founder’s Day celebration at Tata Steel and the parade near Bistupur Postal Park on Tuesday morning. The participating floats will be kept for public view at Ganesh Puja Maidan in Kadma and best floats will be awarded by Tata Steel.

The two-day Founder’s Day sports will be held at Gopal Maidan from Monday.

There will be a Steel Express Quiz Contest for commuters on the Tatanagar-Howrah Steel Express on Tuesday.

“Following a request from Tatanagar railway authorities we are also discussing putting up a bust of J.N. Tata at the station,” said Choudhary.

He said a special green drive would also be part of the celebrations. “We are targeting to plant over 1 lakh saplings in vacant spaces along roadsides by March 31. We have undertaken a mission to rejuvenate water bodies both in city and in nearby villages to increase the groundwater table. We are also undertaking river basin study with help of Delhi-based The Energy and Research Institute for water level correction,” he added.
