Jamshedpur, June 28: At a movie launch party, Member of Parliament from Jamshedpur Arjun Munda has let the cat out of the bag. The glamour bug has bitten this politician, too.

Munda who was in the city for the premier of a Santhali movie, Mogod Dulaar (Love Unexpressed), revealed his desire to act in a film. “I have always loved acting. If I am offered a role and a director considers me for the job then I will definitely try my hand in it,” said Munda at Michael John Auditorium.

The film is produced under the banner of Rahla Entertainment, which aims to promote regional films and give new and aspiring directors a chance. The Rs 2.5-lakh budget film is a love story, which has a village backdrop and Rani Mardi has called the shots.

“It is very inspiring that a woman has finally taken to direction in the state. Filmmaking should be encouraged and I want more women to come forward and express their desire in films,” said Munda. He added: “I will always support everything that is good for Santhali film industry.”

Talking about the film, a crew member said: “The story line of the film is a rich girl meets poor boy story but with a twist. The formula film has been dealt with differently.”

However, Mardi said: “The story is not a fresh one but what will make the film interesting is the fact that the couple are friends but they are unable to express their love for each other. Further, the tragic end will uplift the value of the movie.”

The director, who had completed her Intermediate from LBSM College, is a singer but she had always wanted to direct a movie. Thus after years of singing, she now has come to live her dreams and this will be her debut movie.

“We are open to freshers. We did not approach others for finance but I think there are people who would support the cause of making a film. Filmmaking is yet to carve a niche for itself in the state. Creativity has to find its place and if such high profile figures like Arjun Munda are with us, it will be possible for the Santhali film industry to attain greater heights,” said Mardi.
