Heat to gain steam in Jharkhand

Dry westerly winds sweeping through Jharkhand have pushed up maximum temperatures in most places on Sunday, with Jamshedpur clocking the state’s highest temperature of 37.6°C for the second consecutive day.

Other heat pockets included Seraikela, Chaibasa in West Singhbhum, Bokaro and Simdega, where the daytime temperature is hovering between 36°C and 37°C. Ranchi was comparatively cooler at 32.5°C. Daltonganj on Sunday recorded a maximum reading of 34.4°C against Saturday’s 33°C.

Thus the maximum reading in Jamshedpur is expected to touch an oppressive 40°C and 35°C in Ranchi and its adjoining areas.
