Dry westerly winds sweeping through Jharkhand have pushed up maximum temperatures in most places on Sunday, with Jamshedpur clocking the state’s highest temperature of 37.6°C for the second consecutive day.

Other heat pockets included Seraikela, Chaibasa in West Singhbhum, Bokaro and Simdega, where the daytime temperature is hovering between 36°C and 37°C. Ranchi was comparatively cooler at 32.5°C. Daltonganj on Sunday recorded a maximum reading of 34.4°C against Saturday’s 33°C.

The Met said dry weather with mainly clear sky will prevail in most districts till April 4. S.D. Kotal, the director of the Ranchi Met Centre, said another 2-3 degrees Celsius rise in day readings is likely in most districts in the next 72-hours. Thus the maximum reading in Jamshedpur is expected to touch an oppressive 40°C and 35°C in Ranchi and its adjoining areas.
