The 26th edition of five-day Bitotsav’14, which will start on February 12, will be a confluence of creativity, music shows and enlightening lecture sessions. Nearly 2,000 students from 30 colleges across the country will take part in the mega event.

Considered to be one of the biggest college fests in eastern India, this year’s edition of the BIT-Mesra fest will boast performances by stand-up comedian Surendra Sharma, band Advaita and Farhan Akhtar.

Besides the star performances, the inter-college fest will see a host of cultural, gaming and technical events. Besides dance and band contests, students from various colleges will take to the stage for drama events. A prom night will also be on the offing.

One of the organisers Nitin Gupta said: “We have formed a dedicated team of 500 volunteers to manage various aspects of the fest. We have also notified police and fire departments to be alert in case of an emergency.”

Gupta added that with each passing year, Bitotsav had grown bigger. “Farhan Akhtar will regale BITians on February 16, while popular band Advaita will perform on February 13,” he added.

If fun and frolic are important aspects of the fest, social work has not gone amiss.

“We organised a marathon across the city to generate awareness regarding thalassaemia,” Gupta added.
