Coffee mugs and necklace sets, cards and perfumes are high on demand this Mother’s Day.

This week, children of all ages are out hunting for gifts to pamper their mothers on a day meant for them. The mothers who love them even when they are naughty, the mothers who bring smiles on their faces after a fight with friends or siblings, the mothers who stay up with them for hours to help with studies.

Celebrated on the second Sunday of May, Mother’s Day falls on May 11 this year.

For those in a mood to share these feelings with a little more can also buy cards to do the job. The Telegraph even spotted cards like that at a gifts shop in Patna.

The markets are not just flooded with cards, but also sweets and attractive gifts. Archies Gallery stores, among others, have on offer coffee mugs, necklace sets, quotation stands and soft toys.

Not all of them are big and expensive too. But children in the city are intent on exceeding expectations.

Prachi Sinha, a 15-year-old resident of Pataliputra Colony, said: “My mother is very precious to me. Without her, my life would be dull and lonely. I would try to make her as happy as possible every day and especially on Mother’s Day. I bought a card for her today (Thursday) and am planning to throw a party at P&M Mall on Sunday.”

Fourteen-year-old Trisha of Boring Road said: “My mother is very special. She is a friend with whom I can share my thoughts and feelings. I plan to buy something special for her.”

On Sunday, Trisha plans to surprise her mother.

At the Boring Road store of Archies Gallery — where Prachi and Trisha were looking for gifts — teddy bears that say “Mom, You’re a Star” were available. The other popular picks were deodorants and perfumes and necklace sets that are best to bring smiles on the faces of mothers.
