Calcutta, April 1 :     The inaugural Goodyear annual women?s car rally for eastern India, organised by the Calcutta Motor Sports Club, will be held in and around the city on April 11. Thirty competitors have already entered this time-speed-distance rally (overall about 80km), and the organisers expect a field of about 50. Goodyear eastern division chief Rajiv Chopra said this rally should become an annual feature. Cars, which can take at the most four along the route (all transport sector) must have women drivers, but their co-drivers, or navigators can be male. CMSC?s Cler of the Course Nani Gopal Chanda said the average speed will be around 45kmph and points will accrue in a non-cumulative format. There will be 8 to 10 time controls with the rally starting from the Eastern Command Stadium and ending also at the same venue. The total running time should be about four hours. The winner of the rally will take away Rs 6,000 as prize money. The rallyists finishing after that in order, get Rs 5,000, 4,000, 3,000 and 2,000, respectively.
