Calcutta: Shikha Uberoi has been awarded a wild card into the main draw of the Sunfeast Open. Shikha had reached the doubles final and singles quarter finals here last year.

Shikha joins Sania Mirza to lead India’s challenge at the $175,000 WTA Tier III event. Martina Hingis, the former world No.1 and current No.9, leads the field.

Meanwhile, Shikha lost to qualifier Andreja Klepac of Slovenia 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 3-6 in the first round of the WTA meet in Bali.
