All-rounder Hardik Pandya not bowling in the IPL is not just a big blow for Mumbai Indians, but also for the India’s T20 World Cup team, said Sunil Gavaskar.

“Hardik Pandya not bowling is a big blow... because he was taken in the (T20 World Cup) team as an all-rounder. And if you are in the team, batting at No. 6 or No. 7, and you’re not able to bowl, then it makes it difficult for the captain. He doesn’t get the flexibility and option that is so required,” Gavaskar said during a television sports show.

Umpiring ‘howlers’

The former India captain has also slammed the standard of umpiring in the ongoing IPL. His comments came after umpire Anil Chaudhary changed his decision from no-ball to wide during the game between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings on Monday. The delivery by Dwayne Bravo landed outside the pitch.

“That was clearly a no-ball. We’ve had a couple of decisions from TV umpires, which in these circumstances can make the difference between winning and losing, and that shouldn’t happen,” said Gavaskar while doing commentary for the IPL broadcasters.
