Calcutta, Dec. 14 :
Status quo persists one day before the deadline to
pay Chima Okerie?s fine with Mohun Bagan iterating that the player report
for trials and the Nigerian star insisting ?such things don?t bother him
anymore.?
Mohun Bagan general-secretary Anjan Mitra said even
if Chima reports for training tomorrow, the club will consider paying the
fine. ?He will, however, have to first convince us that even after a long
lay-off he can be a valuable addition to the roster,? the official said.
Chima, meanwhile, continues to keep his future
plans vague by saying ?he doesn?t want to talk about football anymore.?
Asked to elaborate, he said: ?I can suddenly switch off even as I am laughing.
That?s the way I am. Also, isn?t whether I spell out my future plans or
not is my prerogative, isn?t it??
The IFA has already said the Nigerian striker
would automatically be suspended for two years if the fine wasn?t paid
by tomorrow. If that happens a glorious career, spanning almost 14 years,
would end on a disappointing note.
