St James' in last-8 stage

St James' School reached the quarter finals of the Debanjan Cup, beating DPS Megacity 2-0 in Saturday's pre-quarter final round.

Calcutta: St James' School reached the quarter finals of the Debanjan Cup, beating DPS Megacity 2-0 in Saturday's pre-quarter final round.

Prabik Ghising and Zaid Akhtar found the target that helped St James' make the last-eight stage of the tournament, which is organised by the Debanjan Sen Foundation.

The pre-quarter final clash between South City International School and St Mary's, Dum Dum was an exciting one with both teams locked 1-1 after regulation time.

Aditya Raj Singh and Shivam Sharma had scored then for South City International and St Mary's, Dum Dum, respectively.

But, in the penalty shoot-out, South City International won 3-1 to make the quarters.

In the other pre-quarter final matches of the day, Future Hope School beat Frank Anthony Public School 2-0, with Sk. Badal and Adnan Hossain finding the target, while The Heritage School prevailed 3-1 over Mansur Habibullah Memorial School.

Soumyajit Chakraborty, Biswaroop Paul and Vedant Gupta scored for The Heritage School, while Shubhodeep Bera found the net for the losing side.

RESULTS: St James' School 2 DPS Megacity 0; South City International School 1 (3) St Mary's, Dum Dum 1 (1); Future Hope School 2 Frank Anthony Public School 0; The Heritage School 3 Mansur Habibullah Memorial School 1
