ATK Mohun Bagan striker Roy Krishna ranked Friday’s 3-1 ISL VII Derby win against SC East Bengal as the most memorable event of his playing career.

“I will always cherish this Derby win. It’s the most memorable event of my career. It is not about scoring, having a couple of assists or bagging Man of the Match award. This was for the Bagan fans. I know how badly the fans wanted to win this game. It feels good to put a smile on their faces,” Krishna said on Saturday.

Friday’s goal was Krishna’s sixth consecutive strike in this ISL and he said it was great feeling to keep the momentum going.

“It feels good to be consistent. At the start of every season, my target is to better my previous season’s performance. This time, my target is to surpass last season’s tally of 15,” Krishna, who has already scored 14, said.

With the Derby done and dusted, Krishna now looks forward to the next match. “We will be playing another tough match against Hyderabad FC on Monday and we have to win that match too,” striker said.

David Williams dedicated his goal to his mother, whose birthday was on Friday. “Scoring in a Derby is memorable for any player and that came on my mother’s birthday. It was double bonanza for me,” the Australian said.

Javi Hernandez revealed that Tiri’s own goal at the stroke of half-time did not put Bagan under pressure. “During half-time, coach (Antonio Lopez Habas) told us to keep the defence intact and maintain our calm and score whenever we get a chance. We were not under any pressure after the equaliser. We knew three points were there for the taking,” the Spaniard said.
