Cozier passes away
Bridgetown: Renowned West Indies cricket writer and commentator Tony Cozier Wednesday passed away at the age of 75 following a long illness. Cozier was considered the ‘voice of West Indies cricket’. Among others, the ICC and the WICB paid tributes to Cozier.
Aamir visa
Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board is preparing a special case in a bid to secure a visa for left- arm pacer Mohammed Aamir to travel with the national team to England this summer. Under the UK’s immigration laws a person who has been convicted and served time in a UK jail or been deported cannot be issued a visa at least until 10 years after his sentencing.

Mumbai: Virender Sehwag said that comparisons between the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and reigning supertsar Virat Kohli is an unfair one. “Nobody should compare two cricketers,” Sehwag said at a promotional.
Clarke to play
Hong Kong: Michael Clarke will headline Hong Kong’s Twenty20 Blitz this month as he pursues a comeback in cricket’s shortest form. The four-team tournament will be played on May 28-29.

Calcutta: Mohammedan Sporting suffered a major setback in the race for promotion to I-League after they were held goalless by Dempo SC in their final round clash of the I-League second division, at the Fatorda Stadium, on Wednesday. Mohammedan Sporting have 12 points from eight games.
ISL initiative
Calcutta: Koustav Dutta, Ranit Sarkar, Sumit Das, Aritra Das and Supriyo Sardar are among the 22 young footballers forming the Reliance Foundation Young Champs, who will get the opportunity to train and compete with the academy teams of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and five other Premier League clubs. This is an initiative of the ISL to assist in further training of the youngsters.

Calcutta: Manish Jain beat Akram Khan 4-3 to emerge champion of the Hindustan Club state ranking snooker on Wednesday. Earlier, Manish had won the billiards title defeating Shyam Jagtiani. Suniti Damani won the ladies’ title, beating Neeta Kothari 2-0.
