Calcutta: The injury to his right-thumb may have forced Wriddhiman Saha to return early from England and stay out of action for four weeks. But the wicketkeeper-batsman sounds confident of playing in the Champions League T20 (CLT20). He had returned home on Saturday.

This edition of the CLT20 will see the maiden appearance of IPL-VII runners-up Kings XI Punjab.

“I’ve been advised four week of complete rest by the doctor. Thereafter, I can resume practice. So, if things stay as they are, I should be ready by the first week of next month. CLT20 starts on September 13, while we play our first match on the September 18.

“I would have plenty of time to get ready for the job. I’m sure I’ll be able to play the CLT20,” Wriddhiman said on Thursday.

Recalling the incident that forced him out of the ongoing Test series, Wriddhiman said: “A Stuart Binny delivery that bounced awkwardly hit my right-thumb. It was really unfortunate.

“That said, I’m still pretty positive. I’m confident of being back in Team India’s scheme of things.”
