Dubai: A Dubai policeman could be jailed for at least six months for posting a video showing Barcelona star Lionel Messi's passport on social media, reports said on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Dubai airport where Messi landed last month to attend the seventh edition of the Globe Soccer Awards, in which he received the prize of best team and best player, local dailies said.

The Emirati policeman wanted a photo of himself with the Argentinian footballer, but was told the star was tired from the flight, a newspaper reported.

'I then went to the passport control desk and noticed that Messi's passport had been left there, so I picked it up and shot a video of myself while holding it,' it quoted the policeman as saying.

He posted the video on the Snapchat application and wrote: "This is Messi's passport, he is here in Dubai, what do I do? Shall I burn the passport or just put it back! Ok you can go!"

The policeman appeared in court where he 'pleaded guilty and admitted that he was wrong when he posted Messi's passport details on social media,' another Dubai-based daily reported.

It said the policeman could face a minimum of six months in jail and a fine of up to 500,000 dirhams ($136,000). Prosecutors accused the policeman of abusing the telecommunication system.

He was also charged with breaching Messi's privacy.

Meanwhile, Messi's tax fraud case will be heard by a Barcelona court from May 31 through to June 3, according to statement on Wednesday.

Messi and his father Jorge are accused of defrauding the Spanish state of 4.2 million euros ($4.6 million) in tax between 2007 and 2009 and a Spanish court ordered that they stand trial last October.

The state attorney has proposed jail terms of up to 22 months if they are found guilty. Barcelona forward Messi and his father have already paid five million euros to the tax authorities as a "corrective" measure after they were formally charged in June 2013.

In an interview with a French football magazine, Messi says he cannot rule out moving from the club one day but stressed that he has no interest in leaving the European champions.

The Argentina attacker outlined his future plans in an interview that was published on Wednesday. "In football, anything can happen, but my idea and my desire is to stay at Barcelona," Messi said.

When pressed on whether a move to Manchester City or PSG would tempt him in the future, Messi suggested that he could stay at Barcelona for the rest of his career.

"Once again, anything can happen in football but I'm sure of what I want, and what I want to stay here in Barcelona," he said.

Brazilian attacker Neymar, 23, finished well behind Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in this year's vote for football's top individual award.

Messi, though, believes his club teammate should claim the prize at some stage during his career.
