Calcutta: Bengal have included rookie opener Avishek Raman in the 15-member squad for their Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai in Nagpur from Tuesday.

Prosenjit Das has been dropped from the squad that played the last match.

At the selection committee meeting on Thursday, it was decided that Raman would open the innings with Abhimanyu Easwaran. Sayan Sekhar Mondal will drop down to No.6 to give some stability to the lower order.

"Sayan has experience and is matured. His presence will provide solidity in latter part of the innings," selector Arup Bhattacharjee said. Raman is the state under-23 captain and has been among runs in this season's CK Nayudu tournament.

It was learnt that if Bengal are made to play on a turner in Nagpur, Pragyan Ojha, Writtick Chatterjee and Aamir Gani will form the spinning combination.

The CAB president Sourav Ganguly is also expected to be in Nagpur for a day during the match.
