Kolkata Knight Riders came out with the right mindset and were prepared to take “more risks” in their must-win game versus Rajasthan Royals in Dubai on Sunday, captain Eoin Morgan said.

The big 60-run win keeps the Knights’ prospects of making the playoffs alive.

“I thought our total was a par score. Almost all our batsmen who came back said the wicket was beautiful to bat on. And the dew came in much earlier than expected, so no real advantage for them (Royals).

“We were out there to play a free-flowing aggressive game anyway. That was the only way, in fact and we were prepared to take more risks when we batted.

“Thereafter, winning the game was all about taking wickets, especially early. So having that aggressive mindset was important for us,” Morgan said at the post-match presentation.

The net run rate may still come into play to determine KKR’s chances of reaching the last four. “Yes, I was aware of the numbers, but you first need to get yourself to a winning position. I don’t think we could have done any more.”
