South Point School won the inter-school chess championship on Saturday. Diptayan Ghosh, Debarshi Mukherjee and Mitrabha Guha were the winners on Board 1, 2 and 4 respectively while Rohan Sen of The Scottish Church Collegiate School won Board 3 with 5 points.
In the girls’, Sukanya Dutta, Sohini Ganguly and Abdhi Das won on Board 1, 2 and 3 respectively. About 150 students from 36 teams participated in the event. Nisha Mohota gave away the prizes to the winners.
BHA league
West Bengal Police defeated Customs 3-2, while Muslim Institute edged past BSF (North Bengal) 4-3 in the Super Division League of the BHA, on Saturday. In a first division Group B match, Ranganathpur Union beat Howrah Union 2-1.
Table tennis
Suparna Bhattacharjee of Hooghly beat Sofia Deb Roy of Hooghly 11-6, 11-3, 11-3, 11-9 in Calcutta Table Tennis Championship on Saturday. In the girls category, Nibedita Haldar of Hooghly thumped Deb Roy 11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-7.
Tennis meet
CC&FC ‘A’ will clash with DKS in the final of the Shricon-CC&FC Inter-Club Floodlit Tennis Tournament. In the semi-finals, CCFC ‘A’ blanked Shyambazar Club 5-0, while DKS ousted South Club 3-1. DKS won the veterans, mixed and one of the men’s doubles matches.

La Martiniere for Girls beat Loreto Sealdah 52-21 in the inter-school basketball tournament organised by the Women’s Basketball Association, at Loreto House, on Saturday.
