Kerala defeated Bengal 2-0 in a Group A Santosh Trophy match at Malappuram on Monday. PN Noufal and TK Jesin were the scorers for the hosts. Five minutes before full time, Kerala got their first. TK Jesin played Jijo Joseph clear with a through ball.

Instead of shooting on goal, Joseph cut the ball back and Noufal rushed in from the left side to tap it in. The second came in injury time. Muhammed Saheef played Jesin through on goal with just goalkeeper Priyant Singh to beat. The forward did not make any mistake in slotting it home.

In the 25th minute, Kerala had their first shot on target. M Viknesh collected the ball 30 yards from goal but his shot went straight to Bengal keeper Priyant.

EB scouts

East Bengal on Monday appointed their former stars Alvito D'Cunha and Sasthi Duley as ‘spotters’ to find talented players from the ongoing Santosh Trophy. The duo leave for Kerala on Tuesday.
