Centurion/Mumbai: Regular Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and opener KL Rahul had extended nets at Centurion two days before the all-important second Test against South Africa.
That more than suggests that either both will be accommodated after the side's failure with the bat in Cape Town or Rahul will open with Murali Vijay in place of Shikhar Dhawan.
Obviously, it's too early to say if such an overhaul will happen but something is definitely brewing in the India camp. Being 0-1 down in the series, India will have to force a draw if not win to keep the series alive.
Agencies add: The Indians had a taste of what to expect at Centurion's SuperSport Park with the bounce and carry troubling the batsmen. Virat Kohli nicked three balls in succession bowled by Ishant Sharma, Hardik Pandya and a junior Titans cricketer .
There were also some crisp drives on offer from the India captain. However, the annoyance of those three deliveries lingered on for the remainder of his batting stint as he struggled for fluency. When done, he stepped out of the nets and engaged in a long conversation with Ravi Shastri.
The pace on the practice wicket was leaving the batsmen in trouble. Others who spent significant time in the fast bowlers' net were Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were the first to pad up, but after a brief batting session, they all joined Ishant and Umesh in bowling.
