Mumbai: Two former India openers, Bengal's Devang Gandhi and Odisha's Shiv Sundar Das, and one-time India quick Debashish Mohanty of Odisha are in contention for the senior national selector's position from East.

The Justice Rajendra Mal Lodha committee would like only three selectors, but the Board intends following the existing constitution and appoint one selector from each of the five zones.

"Devang could be the man, but nothing has been finalised... One can't rule out Das or Mohanty either," a well-placed source told The Telegraph late on Tuesday.

Whoever comes in will succeed Syed Saba Karim.

South's M.S.K.Prasad and Central's Gagan Khoda may be retained, but like Saba Karim, chairman Sandeep Patil (West) and North's Vikram Rathour have completed four years.
