The qualifying group stage of the tournament, to be hosted by Australia, gets underway on October 16. The tournament proper or the Super 12 starts on October 22.

Each team will be allowed to include 15 players in their squad. However, each participating team in the tournament may travel with a contingent of up to 30 members.

A total of 23 members will be part of the official squad comprising 15 players and eight support staff. Besides, seven additional squad members, at the participating country’s expense, will be allowed to travel with the contingent.

These seven additional members can be a mixture of players, including net bowlers, and support staff. Keeping the Covid-19 pandemic in mind, the ICC has also made it mandatory for each squad to travel with a doctor as part of the contingent.

Any replacements can be made to the original 15, citing medical reasons, after clearance from a committee formed by the ICC during the tournament. Only players who are part of the 15-member squad will be eligible to play in the World Cup. The Asia Cup final is on September 11 which means the selection will take place once the players and support staff return home from the UAE. India open against Pakistan on October 23.
