The conditions were quite tough for batting in Perth and against a disciplined Indian bowling attack, South Africa’s David Miller overcame a tentative start.

He forged a 76-run game-changing partnership with Aiden Markram and remained unbeaten on 59 off 46 balls that won his team the contest.

In Sydney on Thursday, the Proteas will be facing different conditions, where spinners may have a little more assistance from the pitch.

Opponents Pakistan will certainly be relying on the consistent Shadab Khan, in particular, to make the going as uncomfortable as possible for the South Africans.

However, with the form that Miller is in at present, he’s game for the challenge.

“We’ve really been focusing on tackling spin. The guys have definitely prepared well and have a lot of different options. “I think it’s something that we’re well aware of and the guys certainly have got the skills to perform against the Pakistani spinners,” Miller said at the news conference on Wednesday.

“I think the guys are definitely up for it. We’re taking one game at a time, and we are in a great position (second) on the table. But there’s still a lot to do. So we’re definitely up for tomorrow (Thursday) and looking forward to what it sort of brings.

“We are all in a good space,” Miller added.

Since this year’s IPL, the moments of disappointment have been few for Miller. For the left-hander, growing in experience has been one of themost important factors for his progress.

“Yeah, it has been a good ride in the last year and year and-a-half. Personally, I just try to draw back on past experiences.

“I feel experience is something really valuable. For example, in the previous game,we were in a little bit of trouble. But it’s just about slowingthe process down and understanding what’s required then.

“It’s just about trying to weather the storm. I feel like I’ve been in a lot of different situations in my career, and it’s about making sure that you’re really in the moment and what’s required to be done at that moment is probably the most important aspect,” Miller emphasised.
