Sourav Ganguly, as things stand now and unless there is a change in circumstances, is set for a second innings as president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

The former BCCI president met CAB chief Avishek Dalmiya for over an hour and a half on Wednesday evening.

Although Sourav didn’t say anything on record, sources said he would file his nomination for the president’s post on Saturday. “As of now, Sourav is all set to be the CAB president after the annual general meeting (on October 31).

“Now, if he suddenly changes his mind, then obviously his brother Snehasish Ganguly, who was the president-elect earlier, will get the post,” a CAB insider said.

“Sourav’s panel, too, should be finalised on Thursday,” added a senior CAB official. “It appears people from his panel will take up the office-bearers’ posts as chances of anyone coming up from any other camp is minimal. A group did make an attempt earlier, but they are all quiet now.”

If Sourav becomes the CAB president again, Snehasish and Debabrata Das will most likely continue as secretary and joint secretary, respectively.

CAB awards: The association has shortlisted Sambaran Banerjee, Ashok Malhotra, Pranab Roy and Udaybhanu Banerjee for the lifetime achievement award, to be presented on October 29. A woman cricketer too will be honoured.
