Calcutta: ' Chak De! Chile' - that seems to be the battle cry of the Chilean team for the U-17 World Cup.
No matter how odd it sounds to the ear, fact is that the Chileans are drawing inspiration from the 2007 Bollywood hit Chak De! India, which starred Shah Rukh Khan. So says their coach Hernan Caputto.
"The film was very inspiring, we watched it and want to achieve the target like that as a team. This time it will be ' Chak De! Chile'," Caputto said after their first practice season in the city, at the CCFC ground, on Monday.
Chile are in Group F, along with England, Iraq and Mexico and will play their matches at the Salt Lake Stadium.
Asked about their opponents in the group, Caputto said: "All the teams are tough... I hope not to face them again."
The coach revealed that Chile have been preparing for the tournament for nearly six months.
"The focus is on the basics. We have been preparing for nearly six months. You must understand that this is an U-17 team, so you have to train the young boys the right way and take this experience forward."
Chile were the runners-up in the South American U-17 Championship earlier this year. Since then, four new players have joined the squad. "They are four new players. Let's see how good they are... They need time to adjust with the team."
Caputto said that stars like Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez have interacted with the U-17 players and motivated them. "They are a good inspiration for the U-17 team and all the people in Chile."
About the weather here, the coach said: "The temperature is bit high here, hope we will adapt to the conditions," the coach added.
Julio Borquez, the Chile U-17 team's goalkeeper, said they are ready. "We are ready, let's hope for the best," said Julio.
<>For the record, Chile have qualified for the tournament after a gap of 20 years.
Meanwhile, a 21-member Iraq squad arrived in the city in the wee hours on Monday. They had a closed-door session of about two hours at the CCFC under the watchful eyes of coach Qahtan Jathir.
"Practice was ok, all good," a team official said while leaving the ground.
Chile will take on England on Sunday; Iraq will lock horns with Mexico on the second match of the day at the Salt Lake Stadium.
Iraq, along with England and Chile, are slated to attend the Durga Puja immersion parade at the Red Road on Tuesday. England will arrive in the city on Tuesday afternoon.
