Calcutta: Sony Norde was a happy man on Friday. He netted a brace in Mumbai City FC’s 3-2 win over Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) and obviously, there was a rush to get a quote from him.

“A good win in our last match… Nice way to finish off,” he said.

Norde revealed that he has signed a deal with Mohun Bagan and will be joining the I-League champions on December 27. “The deal is done. I am flying out to Haiti now for a Christmas break and will be coming back to the city on December 27.”

Norde got high praise from Mumbai City manager Nicolas Anelka. “He is a good player. He is very clever, but he needs to work on his defensive qualities. I like his attitude and willingness to learn,” he said.
According to Norde, Mumbai City could have done better if luck was with them. “We lost three close matches. And that sealed our fate. Had we logged six points from those three ties, things would have been different.”
For the record, Mumbai City FC finished with 16 points. Norde and Sunil Chetri missed a couple of matches due to national commitments. Did their absence hurt Mumbai City?
“I don’t think so. We had a good bunch of players. It was bad luck that we could not made it to the knock-out round,” the Haitian said while talking to the media.
