Calcutta: Assam were quick to bounce back after their defeat against Bengal as they beat Odisha comprehensively by seven wickets in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 Trophy tie at the Tripura Institute of Technology ground, in Agartala, on Monday.
Opting to field after a wet outfield reduced it to a 17-over-a-side affair, Odisha’s innings was stalled by a hat-trick from medium-pacer Arup Das. as Odisha finished at 140 for seven.
In reply, Assam rode on Pritam Debnath’s unbeaten 69 to reach home with four balls to spare.
In another game, Jharkhand began their campaign in style, whipping Tripura by eight wickets at the Maharaja Bir Bikram College ground, in Agartala.
