Bangalore: Usain Bolt has arrived.
It was around 1.15 am on Tuesday that the talismanic Bolt emerged from the immigration and customs area at the airport. He came on a Dragonair flight, from Hong Kong, after promotionals in Shanghai.
Clearly, Bolt looked fatigued.
“It’s nice (to be in India), but I’m tired,” Bolt told The Telegraph, in his first interaction with the media on his debut trip to this country.
Some 15 hours after landing, Bolt will be seen on a cricket pitch, not an athletics track, but the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has no plans to honour the record-smasher.
It’s a bit strange, for most in India don’t let go opportunities to hand over mementos.
“Nothing is planned... There won’t be any felicitation at the Chinnaswamy,” KSCA secretary Brijesh Patel told this Reporter on Monday.
Bolt will star in the Battle of Legends (Yuvraj Singh being the other), put together by Puma.
Brand ambassadors both, Bolt and Yuvraj are supposed to captain seven-a-side teams in a four-over ‘match’.
Those who couldn’t collect passes at designated outlets don’t have to be disappointed: Two gates have been earmarked for entry by the aam aadmi.
