ROY MILLER LIKELY TO TAKE CHARGE SOON

Calcutta, March 7 :     Roy Miller, of Ireland, is likely to take charge of the Indian football team soon. According to All India Football Federation (AIFF) secretary, K. N. Mour, final negotiations with Miller are in progress. The financial aspects have already been worked out. Mour said that a 15-day selection camp, featuring 40 players, will be held in Calcutta, tentatively from March 15, for the pre-Olympic competition. Those selected will join the final camp in Bangalore beginning April 4. Dates and venues of the pre-Olympic meet are yet to be finalised though India, it was learnt, have been grouped along with Thailand, Singapore, Brunei and Laos. Mour said that Miller will train the team primarily for the Olympic qualifiers but he may take charge of the team for the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) meet to be held in Goa from April 22 to May 1, if he arrives before that. Veteran coach P. K. Banerjee will be the technical director in the pre-Olympic campaign and an assistant coach will be named soon. Second division in May Mour said the National League second division is likely to be played in May, after the inter-state transfers which will be held from April 1 to 14. The meet is expected to be held in Bihar. Super Cup on March 24 The Super Cup match, between the National League champions and the Federation Cup winners, will be held on March 24. A decision on the Nehru Cup, expected to be held in Orissa, was awaited.
