IPL 2020 is turning out to be one of the most interesting editions in the history of the tournament with little to separate most of the teams. Chennai Super Kings’ 20-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday will add spice to the fight for the play-off berths.

The Super Kings first put up a competitive total of 167/6 on board after winning the toss. And then with the help of their spinners, as well as Dwayne Bravo, who bowled a fantastic final over, they choked Sunrisers Hyderabad to clinch two points.

The win certainly comes as a relief to Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his men as they stay alive and also move a slot up to sixth in the standings with six points. In spite of the defeat, the Sunrisers, having same number of points as the Super Kings, remain fifth by virtue of a better net run rate.

The pitches becoming slower as the tournament progresses augurs well for the Super Kings. Just like it helped Ravindra Jadeja, who had a major impact with his all-round game on Tuesday. After an unbeaten 25 off just 10 balls at the back-end that pushed the Super Kings total past 160, Jadeja picked up the vital wicket of Jonny Bairstow, foxing him with one that just turned away a bit.

Kane Williamson (57), who otherwise played a quality knock, was left to do the finishing work all by himself and that didn’t quite work out.

Leg-spinner Karn Sharma (2/37) and all-rounder Sam Curran continued to impress for the Super Kings, while Shardul Thakur too bowled accurately enough in the penultimate over, leaving the Sunrisers with as many as 22 to get off the last six balls.

Bravo, as he has done all these years for the Super Kings, was flawless with the length he bowled in the final over.

Dhoni, who scored 21 off 13 balls with the bat, was intelligent with his field placements. No surprise there though.
