Dubai: "I have no idea, so cannot say," was Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani's reaction when asked by The Telegraph if Prime Minister Imran Khan would make a trip here at some point during Wednesday's India vs Pakistan Asia Cup match.

Mani would know as Imran hand-picked him for the chairman's position soon after being sworn in as the Prime Minister last month.

Speculation, however, continued as Imran would be in UAE's capital Abu Dhabi (on Wednesday) after a short visit to Saudi Arabia. The trips, apparently, have much to do with Pakistan's economy being in fragile state.

Protocol and security are major considerations for heads of state and government, so Imran won't just pop in at the Dubai International Stadium.

Things were different when Imran was in the Opposition.

Moreover, while Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed welcomed that possibility, Imran may himself not wish to add to the usual pressure which does affect the players.

Imran, it may be recalled, had been at the Eden during the India vs Pakistan World T20 match in 2016.
