Bhadrak, Sept. 17: Police have arrested two persons for raping a 20-year-old woman in the presence of her husband at Baulagadia in Bhadrak.
The two accused have been identified as Sanjay Malik and Ugrasen Malik, both around 25-year-old and residents of Malika Sahi in Baulapokhari. Both the accused were produced in court today, said the police.
The crime was committed on Monday, where as the police made the arrests yesterday.
The cops are searching for three more persons involved in the crime.
On Monday night, the victim and her husband, residents of Charampa, were returning home after visiting her ailing father on a motorcycle. Five men intercepted them near Baulagadia.
They forcefully stopped the motorcycle and overpowered the victim’s husband. They dragged the man away and took his wife to a secluded spot. Later, the criminals raped her, the victim told the police.
Though the woman raised an alarm but to no avail, as the place was deserted.
The criminals decamped with her mobile phone and gold ring before letting her go, she said.
Acting on the compliant, the police have registered a case under sections 376(d) and 395 of the Indian Penal Code. Medical examination of the victim is still in progress.
Inspector in charge of Bhadrak rural police station Tarun Kumar Das said: “Two of the accused persons have been produced in court today. They have confessed to the crime. We are in the search for the other criminals, who had also been involved in this crime.”
