Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Computer Application Centre, in association with Bangalore-based SecurEyes, has decided to provide specialised training to professionals in the field of cyber security at its dedicated centres.

The programme will be launched on Sunday in the name of Hackers Boot Camp where not only professionals from the centre, but also students will be trained in cyber safety and security.

Seemanta Patnaik, chief technology officer at SecureEyes, said the course would focus on imparting education and training in various cyber security areas to graduates and prepare them for highly respectable jobs in the cyber security field.

The trainers will be experts from the field of cyber security.

"Exposure to live projects might be provided as needed to build confidence among the participants. The curriculum will help grooming professionals and make them ready for this digital world," said Patnaik, adding that Hackers Boot Camp was the first of its kind in the state and would provide a great opportunity to students and professionals to build their skills and get trained by highly-skilled practising consultants.

"The curriculum has been drawn up keeping in mind the business and market demands," said the technology officer.

The need of starting such a course was felt with the advent of the Digital India and other such initiatives that increased the dependency of the society on the Internet and related services.

However, with convenience come risks that need to be taken care of.

"Almost all individuals use information technology and the Internet for various reasons. The most common uses are banking, paying bills, booking tickets, social interaction and shopping. The convenience of the Internet provides a big advantage to people to optimise their time," said IT engineer Uday Sahu.

Sources said after the course, the trained professionals will help various agencies, including the government ones, to keep their data safe.

"Cyber crime is becoming increasingly common. The convenience of the information technology comes with its own share of problems and risks," said Sahu.
