Wide open spaces push aside city mayhem as avatar of Raahgiri goes live

Bhubaneswar, Nov. 27: People of all ages lit up Rajpath with their enthusiasm during Patha Utsav this morning.

An actor and the Bhubaneswar municipal commissioner penned tiny tales for children. The stories were one of the highlights of Patha Utsav, the new avatar of Raahgiri, aimed at spreading awareness about non-motorised transport and road safety.

Taking part in the Sunday event held on Rajpath on the theme "Ama Sahara, Ama Rasta", Cuttack resident Harpriya Maharana said: "I am glad that the administration has resumed the event. It not only generates awareness but also provides much needed leisure."

The Janpath Transit Oriented Development (TOD) corridor is being redesigned so that the streets would become child friendly and in future pedestrians and cyclists would commute safely to their destinations and would not much be worried about safety. This will be carried out under the Smart City initiative. The Patha Utsav, in the future will also try to inculcate more child-friendly approaches and the grooming for them as the Bhubaneswar Smart City Proposal has emphasized on a child-friendly and liveable city for the future generations to come.
