Bhubaneswar, June 30: The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) authorities today began counselling for admission into MTech, MPharma, MPlan and MArch streams. The process will continue till July 3.

The authorities have set up three centres at the College of Engineering and Technology, the College of IT and Management Education, and the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology, for the purpose.

On the first day, students and their parents started pouring into the centres, where the counselling continued from 9am to 5pm.

Around 3,000 students chose their respective colleges and got their original documents verified at the centres.

Counselling for admissions into BTech lateral entry and BArch would be held from July 4 to July 9 across 21 centres. "There will be five centres in Bhubaneswar, four in Cuttack, three in Rourkela, two in Berhampur and one each in Dhenkanal, Burla, Baripada, Balasore, Sarang, Jeypore and Bhawanipatna," said OJEE secretary Priyabrata Sahoo.

"Students must reach the centre with all their original documents to avoid any inconvenience. Besides, the students must be careful from touts and agents and not fall prey to their false claims," said Sahoo.

While the online registration and selection for MBA and MCA courses has started, the web-based counselling schedule for ayurveda, homeopathy and master in management (MAM) courses will be notified later, said an OJEE official.

Students who had appeared for the JEE (Mains) have been eagerly waiting for their ranks. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) was supposed to publish the ranks on Sunday. The ranks are calculated by adding 60 per cent of the JEE (Mains) marks and 40 per cent of Plus Two scores.

Only after the ranks are published, the counselling for admissions to the IITs, the NITs and the IIITs will start. Unlike last year, there will be a joint seat allocation process for all the premier institutes this time.

The CBSE has not been able to announce the ranks on time as many state boards have delayed in sending the Class-XII marks in a "proper format" to the board.

Students fear that a delayed counselling would cause further delay in the start of the academic session.
