Bhubaneswar, Feb. 12: A group of film enthusiasts, led by film-maker Snehasis Das, have come together to create awareness on social issues through a music video album.

The album, Stories Untold, will feature five videos and will be released in phases throughout this year.

"Music videos are a strong medium to spread social messages. We will feature known faces to ensure maximum reach," said Das, known for his animated films on social issues.

The first video, Ghar Jana Hai, based on love erupting during a natural calamity, is set for March release. It stars Lagaan actor Rajendranath Zutshi opposite Odia actress Gargee Mohanty.

Composers Sanjay Dazz and Ambar Das, who had scored for Rituparno Ghosh, composed the song sung by Konark Sarangi. Lyricist Swati Chakraborty, who is also the co-director of Satyamev Jayate, penned the lyrics.

The video discusses water scarcity, the falling economy and migration against the backdrop of a love story in Balangir district. "The video is not just to address the drought, economic problems or migration, but to understand the emotions and love that exist amid such adversities. It is love and the longing to return to home that drives the song's underlying theme," Das said.

Odisha has faced several drought-like situations since the drought and famine of 1866 severely affected more than 13 districts, leading to migration to other Indian cities.

"Despite being a calamity-prone area, Odisha never backs down in adversities and this song is an ode to the Odia people's fighting spirit and their enduring bonds of love during trying times," said Sarangi.

Zutshi, who was in awe of Odisha and its culture, said: "Songs are a brilliant medium to reach out to masses and convey socially relevant messages. It should not only entertain but, also educate people on various environmental and social issues. I feel proud to have collaborated in this project."
