
NCC members take part in a mock-fighting drill on the BJB Autonomous College ground in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
The cadets showcased how a section of infantry undertake surgical strikes to destroy an enemy post at the event held to mark the 68th NCC Day.
The event began with a parade followed by display of various activities by the army, navy and air wings of NCC that included aerobatics and continuity drill. The cadets also showcased their skills in horsemanship.
This year, a national-level horse riding competition will be held as part of the Republic Day celebrations and NCC's remount and veterinary squadron is preparing its cadets for the event.
Subroto Bagchi, chairman, Skill Development Authority, who was also the first best cadet awardee of the state in 1975, appreciated the cadets for their show. He complimented NCC for instilling skills such as leadership, discipline, commitment and responsibility in cadets.
Deputy director general of NCC, Odisha Commodore Lalit Kumar Agarwalla complimented the cadets for their performance in various discipline and inter-directorate competitions. He said the new NCC battalions raised in rural and tribal areas of the state would help to meet the much-needed aspirations of students from the region.
