Sambalpur, March 29: Commuters had a tough time negotiating traffic snarls on the two-lane Fatak-Ainthapali road, one of which was closed after a water pipeline burst at Budharaja early this morning.

Residents blame lack of co-ordination between the works department (roads and building division) and the public health engineering department for the problem.

Assistant executive engineer of the roads and building division P.K. Nath said: “It will take us seven to eight days to repair the road after the public health and engineering departments finish their work.” Public health department officials said they had started repairs on the pipeline. Sub-divisional officer Gunanidhi Pradhan said: “The pipe burst because of air lock.”
